Whether your plan is to stay in academia, work in industry, or do something in between -  the opportunities available and skills associated with Academic Entrepreneurship can be exciting, enriching elements of your professional career. 

Hosted by the CHOP Innovation Ecosystem (IE) and CHOP Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs (ATOP), this session introduced exciting stories of Academic Entrepreneurs to provide real examples of how PhD-trained scientists can weave academic extrpreneurship into their careers.

This event took place at CHOP on April 11, 2023.

Learning Objectives of this class:  

  • Define Academic Entrepreneurship 

  • Describe potential career paths in Academic Entrepreneurship from perspective of a PhD or MD

  • List the common knowledge/skills needed for a career path in Academic Entrepreneurship 

  • Specify resources available through CHOP and Penn that support exploration of Academic Entrepreneurship
